Advanced Tower Design
General Features
  • Calculations in English or Metric Units
Base Plates
  • Calculations for the following base plate types
    • Base ring only
    • Base ring with gussets only
    • Base ring with centered anchor bolt
    • Base ring with gussets and continuous compression ring
    • Base ring with gussets and compression plate (anchor bolt chair)
Skirts
  • Calculations for the following skirt types
    • Conical (minor opening on top & major opening at base)
    • Cylindrical
    • Both can be designed in multiple sections of different geometries and materials
First Natural Period of Vibration (FNPV)
  • Calculations
    • Based on Rayleigh’s un-dampened beam method utilizing superposition
    • Seismic shear force is calculated utilizing the FNPV and the included or user specified seismic data
Wind & Seismic
  • Codes Referenced
    • ANSI/ASCE 7-88
    • ASCE 7-93
    • ASCE 7-95
    • ASCE 7-98
    • ASCE 7-02
    • ASCE 7-05
    • UBC 1991
    • UBC 1994
    • UBC 1997
    • IBC 2000
    • IBC 2003
    • IBC 2006
    • User defined data may be entered for specific regional statistics not included in the above Codes
  • Calculations
    • Seismic shear – See FNPV above
    • Resultant forces and overturning moments are calculated between the elevations under consideration
    • Forces may be calculated and evaluated separately or in various combinations
    • Worst case directions are used for each considered elevation to determine stresses
Loadings & Attachments
  • General
    • Stresses due to attachments applied at different elevations, such as piping, pumps, or platforms, are considered for your vessel
    • Liquid, insulation, packing, and wind loadings due to increased wind diameter loadings can also be considered.
    • Easy entry – just enter your load with the starting & ending load elevations
  • Test conditions
    • Multiple conditions can be tested with a single setup
    • You may even specify if your attachments, insulation, or packing will be present during the hydro test
Reports
  • A.P.V. has the most clear, concise, well thought out reports in the industry
  • Calculations are shown in their original algebraic format
  • Reports include the appropriate Code formulas with the proper design values inserted and results (great for inspectors, customers, & QC/QA personnel)
  • Report sections can be re-ordered and added or removed from the report as needed (i.e. reviewing the nozzle report)
  • Reports may be printed, viewed on screen, or save them as a PDF (for email, electronic storage, use on a secure intranet, etc.)
Minimum System Requirements
  • A current version of Advanced Pressure Vessel
    • Module is installed at the time of A.P.V. installation and is activated when purchased
